How To Use Productive Procrastination to Your Advantage | #130
Have you ever found yourself doing the dishes instead of tackling that important project? Or maybe organizing your closet, or suddenly having the urge to spring clean - again - instead of doing the thing that’s on your priority list? Yeah, that’s 100% #relatable. Especially if you have ADHD or other neurotypes prone to executive dysfunction and trouble prioritizing.
When I was a kid and my mom told me to clean my room, I inevitably got distracted by something micro, like alphabetizing my CD collection or making sure my plastic arts and crafts organizer had its drawers separated by category. To my mom, it looked like I was goofing off and ignoring her direction to clean my room. But that WAS cleaning my room. I didn't realize that her version of cleaning my room and mine could be different, but I know now that we were operating from two different scripts.
I was procrastinating the big-picture room cleaning tasks like making my bed, putting away my belongings, and dusting the surfaces without realizing that I was procrastinating anything at all. In fact, a lot of ADHD procrastination is done while doing something that's actually productive.
If you’ve ever wondered how you can turn your procrastination into a powerful tool for productivity and self-care, then this one’s especially for you.

💬 "Productive procrastination is when we are procrastinating, but we're doing something that's at least kind of productive."
